Final Fantasy VIII - Guardian Forces
Since Final Fantasy III, Summoned Creatures have been
available to your Summoners to summon. Final Fantasy 8 puts a new twist
on that in the form of the Guardian Forces and the Junction System. By
junctioning a GF to your characters, they can increase their stats
greatly as well as perform new abilities. Also, the GFs can level up
themselves with your characters and learn new abilities through battle
with AP.

party is in trouble once more.
Boko the Chocobo
Once you have solved at least one Chocobo Puzzle, use a Gysahl Green in
battle to call a Chocobo.
This is more of an Ability than a GF. Use the Mog's Amulet to teach the
MiniMog ability to a GF, then use the ability in battle to pay MiniMog
to restore all your GFs to full health. The cost depends on your level
(100 Gil per level - Level 50 = 5000 Gil)
Use a Friendship item in battle to call a Moomba.
If you have Odin when you face Seifer on Disk 3, Seifer will (ahem)
and Gilgames will Appear. The difference between Gilgamesh and Odin is
that Gilgames can appear during Boss Fights too and he performs one of 4
different attacks (Zantetsuken, Masamune, Excaliber, Excalipoor)
